Agarwood — known as Gaharu across Southeast Asia — is one of the rarest and most valuable natural resources on earth. But for most of its history, its production has been left entirely to chance. Trees either formed resin naturally over decades, or they didn’t. Yields were unpredictable. Quality was inconsistent. Farmers had no guarantee of return.
Lux Agarwood was built to change that.
Founded by Ms. Tran in Quang Nam, Vietnam — one of the world’s most celebrated agarwood regions — we developed a proprietary cultivation technology rooted in a single scientific discovery: a naturally mutant Aquilaria mother tree whose genetic makeup causes it to produce agarwood reliably, naturally, and at a rate unmatched anywhere in the world.
From that single tree, we cultured an entire generation of F1 seedlings — trees carrying the same genetic advantage, with essential oil content of 40–45% and a guaranteed 100% agarwood production rate. We then built a full-service operation around these trees: planting, inoculation, farm management, product processing, and international export.
Today, Lux Agarwood partners with farmers and landowners across Vietnam, Malaysia, and the wider Southeast Asian region — offering everything from ground-up farm development to complete farm management for overseas investors. Every product we sell comes directly from our own cultivated trees. Every service we offer is backed by our experienced engineering team and a signed cooperation contract.
This is not a transaction. It is a long-term partnership — built on shared growth, shared knowledge, and shared profit.
From laboratory seed germination to field-ready F1 seedlings — we build agarwood farms from scratch or activate existing trees through our natural inoculation method.
Our engineering team monitors every tree through its full growth cycle — ensuring maximum resin formation, optimal health, and the highest possible yield at harvest.
From bakhoor chips to oud oil, tasbih to agarwood tea — we process and export premium agarwood products to buyers in the UAE, Middle East, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and beyond.
Full Farm Planting From Seed to Field-Ready Tree
Seeds are harvested from our proprietary Hai Ky Nam mother tree in Quang Nam, Vietnam — the only naturally mutant Aquilaria tree of its kind in the world. Only the healthiest seeds are selected.
Seeds are germinated and cultivated under strict laboratory conditions for a minimum of 32 days. Each seedling is tested and monitored individually to ensure genetic quality and health.
Seedlings are gradually introduced to natural sunlight and outdoor conditions — building the resilience they need to thrive in Southeast Asian climates across Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, and Cambodia.
After approximately 3 months, healthy F1 seedlings are transferred to your farm and planted at the optimal density for your land size and layout.
Our engineers continue regular on-site monitoring after planting — tracking tree health, managing early pest risks, and preparing trees for the inoculation stage.

No experience needed at all. Lux Agarwood handles the entire planting process — from seed selection and laboratory germination through to field transfer and early monitoring. Our engineering team guides you every step of the way. All you need is suitable land and the commitment to grow something extraordinary.
The minimum recommended farm size is 3 hectares. Most of our partner farms run between 5 and 200 hectares. A single hectare can support 8,000–10,000 trees — making even a modest plot of land a significant long-term asset. If you are unsure whether your land is suitable, contact us and our team will assess it for you.
From the moment seeds enter our laboratory, the process takes approximately 3 months before field-ready F1 seedlings are transferred to your farm. During this time our team germinates, tests, monitors, and gradually acclimatises each seedling to natural outdoor conditions — ensuring only the healthiest trees make it to your land.
The farmer contribution is RM 800 per tree. Lux Agarwood covers RM 1,000 per tree in technical and engineering costs — bringing the total cultivation cost per tree to RM 1,800. If you are able to pay upfront we welcome and officially record that. If not, payment can be deferred and deducted from your share of the proceeds at harvest time. All terms are formalised in a signed contract before any work begins.
Tree Inoculation Activate the Value Already in Your Trees
Many landowners across Southeast Asia are sitting on significant untapped value — trees that look ordinary on the outside but have the full potential to produce one of the world’s most expensive natural materials.
Lux Agarwood’s inoculation service unlocks that potential. Our engineers inject our proprietary natural formula directly into your existing trees, triggering the same resin formation process that creates agarwood in the wild — but accelerated, controlled, and optimised for maximum yield and quality.
Our process uses a 100% natural formula with no microbial fermentation, biological agents, or lead-based compounds. The trees remain fully alive and healthy after inoculation, continuing to grow and accumulate resin for years. Each wound is precisely placed to optimise yield per tree, with resin formation beginning within 2–3 months. Progress is carefully monitored and documented at 3, 6, and 12-month intervals, and all products are fully export-compliant, meeting international trade standards.

Yes. In fact older and more mature Aquilaria trees are often ideal candidates for inoculation. Common agarwood trees need to reach at least 10 years of age before inoculation is recommended — at this stage the wood is dense enough to retain and accumulate resin effectively. Our engineers will assess your trees before any work begins to confirm suitability and plan the optimal inoculation approach for your specific stock.
Many inoculation methods on the market use microbial fermentation, biological agents, or lead-based compounds to trigger resin formation. These shortcuts produce agarwood that cannot be exported internationally due to contamination concerns. Lux Agarwood's method is 100% natural — no prohibited substances of any kind. Our trees remain alive and healthy after inoculation, continuing to accumulate resin naturally over years. The result is denser, more aromatic, export-compliant agarwood that commands higher prices.
No. This is one of the most important advantages of our method. Many conventional inoculation techniques damage or eventually kill the host tree — cutting short the resin accumulation cycle and reducing final yield. Our approach is specifically designed to keep trees alive and healthy throughout. A living tree continues to produce and accumulate resin long after inoculation — meaning the longer you wait before harvesting, the higher the quality and value of what you collect.
Resin formation typically begins within 2–3 months of inoculation — and you can visually observe the darkening of the wood at the wound sites. Our team monitors and documents progress at 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month intervals, providing you with regular updates. While early formation is visible quickly, the highest-grade agarwood develops over 3 to 7 years — patience is directly rewarded with significantly higher value.
Lux Agarwood guarantees to buy back all harvested agarwood at a minimum of RM 3,000 per kilogram for fully sinking-grade product — the highest quality grade. Lower grades are purchased at current market rates at the time of sale. Because prices can fluctuate year to year, we recommend signing a fixed-rate contract in advance to protect your returns. All buy-back terms are clearly documented before any inoculation work begins.

When trees are ready to harvest, our team conducts a full yield assessment and coordinates the harvesting process to extract maximum value.
We purchase your harvested agarwood directly and handle the full export process to international buyers — you receive your share without needing to find a market yourself.
The total technical cost per tree is RM 1,800, covering inoculation, engineering, and full lifecycle support. Lux Agarwood covers RM 1,000 per tree, while the farmer contributes RM 800 as the only required investment.
Farmers can either pay RM 800 per tree upfront with no deductions later, or choose a deferred option where the amount is deducted from harvest profits.
Profits are shared 50/50. The farmer earns 50% for land and participation, while Lux Agarwood receives 50% for technical work, management, and export handling.
Per tree – By Year 3, trees yield 3–4 kg valued at RM 4,500–12,000. By Year 5, yields reach 5–7 kg worth RM 15,000–35,000. By Year 7 and beyond, higher-grade agarwood can significantly increase value, with mature trees reaching up to $100,000 each.
At scale, returns grow rapidly. A single hectare with 10,000 trees forms a strong base asset, with larger farms offering substantial long-term value depending on yield and grade.
A minimum of 3 hectares is required, with optimal density starting at 8,000 trees per hectare. Ideal farm sizes range from 5 to 200 hectares, depending on investment goals.
At Year 5, one tree producing 7 kg at RM 3,000/kg generates RM 21,000. The farmer’s 50% share is RM 10,500, or RM 9,800 after deduction. Across 10,000 trees, this scales to RM 98,000,000.
